Our client in the not for profit space is looking for a highly skilled Communications Manager to manage both internal and external communications.
The Communications Manager is responsible for driving strategy and the execution of all internal & corporate communications, ensuring employees and chapters across the organization are proactively informed and engaged.
The Manager will also partner with cross functional teams, members of the executive team, board of directors, chapter leaders, partners and sponsors, to maintain and evolve the effectiveness of communications delivered across the organization.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates closely with key leaders and internal partners across the company to optimize communications for the organization (corporate & chapters).
Proactive approach to media opportunities through pitches and network contacts
Creates quarterly and annual strategic communications plans and content calendar
Develops and executes new and creative communications strategies that build engagement, create awareness, and deliver employee/chapters satisfaction.
Oversees and develops content for a wide range of communications including offline, social media and digital channels, ensuring content is SEO optimized.
Build and maintain relationships with local, national and US media.
Develops and ensures compliance of communication standards and processes.
Creates brand consistency and tone of voice with all content and communications.
Supports the Company teams by driving the planning and execution of communications for our Annual Founders Day conference, townhalls and other events as required.
Provides advisory and editorial support to the Executive Leadership team with select internal communications such as CEO announcements as well as media coaching.
Manage and mentor junior team members.
Other duties as assigned to support the Operations team.
Proficient in MS office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) are essential
Requirements:
Degree in Communications, Journalism or related field
6+ years’ agency or client side communications and PR experience
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to write and proofread a range of internal and external materials, including newsletters, brochures, speeches and digital content (ie. videos, web pages, social media)
Confident, positive self-starter and driver who can build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
Experience working with the media in pitches and media buying
Government relations experience an asset
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Demonstrated project management skills
Proficient in MS office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) are essential, knowledge of intranet, an asset
Must pass a Vulnerable Sector background check to work with children
